Description

Savory shrimp and creamy grits, you will wanna make this for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Peeled And Deveined Shrimp Tail On (21-30)
  • 15 ounces, weight Canned Diced Tomato
  • 3 strips Thick Bacon
  • 1 whole White Onion, Diced
  • 1 whole Green Pepper, Seeded And Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 leaves Fresh Basil, Torn
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay With Garlic & Herb Seasoning
  • ½ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • ½ pieces Lemon, Juiced
  • 2 dashes Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • 1 box (24 Oz. Box) Grits, Or Enough To Make 5 Servings

Preparation

Fry bacon in a large frying pan until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pan onto a paper towel to drain. Don’t start eating the bacon! Use the oil from the bacon to sauté the onions and peppers. Add the garlic and do not walk away from the stove. Once the garlic starts to become fragrant, add the canned tomatoes. Add shrimp, Old Bay seasoning, black pepper, hot sauce, lemon juice and torn basil. TASTE the sauce. If you need salt, add just a little at a time. Cook until shrimp starts to curl. The shrimp will be done in 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Serve over a plate of creamy grits (follow the instructions on the box, it really does work) and enjoy.

We had shrimp and grits for the first time at my hubby’s cousin’s wedding….we laughed when we saw that they were offered, but we had to try – and this dish is SO GOOD! May have to try this at home with your recipe!

So tasty! We loved it. The directions didn’t say what to do with the bacon but I assumed crumble it and add it to the mix?

Delicious!
We loved this recipe – we figured it saved us about $80 making it at home vs. eating out. We will be making it again and again.

Had some fantastic shrimp and grits while on vacation in Tennessee and came home desperately searching for a great recipe. We tried this tonight and it was absolutely wonderful! All of my kids loved it which is a huge triumph and the husband said it had to be a regular. I did have to change the grits because my husband hates them but I got an organic Parmesan risotto and it went perfectly. I highly recommend this recipe.

Made this last night. I have never had grits before so I was really curious how it would taste. We loved it and the recipe made a lot! I plan on reheating the leftovers tomorrow and maybe adding some crab or fish to it. I will definitely be making this one again.

These were so good! I never had shrimp and grits before I made this, but something came to me in my head that I had to make and try them. My husband went nuts! I tried to follow this recipe exactly but ended up having to make a few modifications. I searched and searched for old bay seasoning, but never found it so I used Zataran’s creole seasoning instead. I also had to thin the sauce out so I added about 2-3 tbs of olice oil. Delish

I had never heard of shrip & grits before, but they are two of my favorite things, so I had to try this. I must say it was very good! The only thing in this recipe I was not sure about was what I should do with the cooked bacon? The receipe does not instruct you to crumble the bacon and add it to the dish, but I did. I am pretty sure it was meant to be. Shrimp + bacon + grits = good stuff.
