Description

A scrumptious cold meat salad. Spread on toasted wheat bread or serve in a mound on a piece of Romaine lettuce. Use any leftover (cooked) meat you have in your fridge.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Leftover Cooked Meat: Pot Roast, Steaks, Etc.
  • ¾ cups Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tablespoon White Vinegar
  • ½ whole Small Onion, Finely Diced
  • 4 whole Hard Boiled Eggs, Chopped
  • 6 whole Pickle Slices, Chopped
  • 3 Tablespoons Sweet Pickle Relish
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • Optional Ingredients: Pimentos, Diced Green Pepper, Diced Jalapeno

Preparation

Grind meat finely in the food processor.

Stir in all other ingredients, adjusting quantities to taste. Be sure to add enough salt and pepper.

Keep refrigerated until you need it. Spread on toasted wheat bread or serve as a salad on a piece of Romaine lettuce.

Also can’t wait to try this one. I remember my family using an old silver meat grinder for a similar recipe.

My mom and grandma used to fix this all of the time for potlucks and picnics! A great summer treat! They would usually use just ground hamburger meat but I have got to try it with the steak! We always called it “hamburger salad.” Thanks for posting this great variation of it!

This one really surprised me, I have to be honest. The idea of eating pureed meat spread was a little difficult to get over, but as I mixed it and added ingredients, I finally tried it…and made a sandwich for myself. Great use of leftover grilled meats!!!

My family loved this! I made it as sandwiches, so kept the pickle slices whole and layered it over the spread.
