Description

A combination of cooking methods (braising, slow cooking and baking) makes this rib recipe easy and delicious. With very little “hands on” time, these ribs turn out juicy and perfectly done.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks Babyback Ribs, Cut Into Serving-size Portions
  • 3 teaspoons Barbecue Spice Rub (I Like Penzeys)
  • 1-½ cup Ketchup
  • ¾ cups Brown Sugar, Packed
  • ½ cups White Wine Vinegar
  • ½ cups Honey
  • ⅓ cups Soy Sauce
  • 1-½ teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • ¾ teaspoons Ground Mustard
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Pepper

Preparation

Heat grill to medium-high heat. Sprinkle rib sections with the barbecue spice rub and rub it into the meat. Place ribs on hot grill long enough to achieve a nice char and grill marks on all sides (this will only take a few minutes per side).

Once ribs are seared, remove them from the grill and place them in a large slow cooker and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours. About half an hour before serving, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, soy sauce and spices in a small bowl. Heat oven to 375 F. Remove the rib sections from the slow cooker and place in a shallow roasting pan. Pour sauce mixture over the ribs and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until the sauce is bubbly and browned onto the meat.
