Description

These are juicy, delicious and perfect for summer. Make sure you load on the cheese and the chiles!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BURGERS:
  • 1 pound Ground Beef, 80/20
  • ¼ cups Grated Sweet Onion
  • ¼ cups BBQ Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • 1 can (4 Oz. Size) Diced Green Chiles
  • ½ cups Green Enchilada Sauce
  • FOR ASSEMBLY:
  • 4 whole Thick Slices Monterey Jack Cheese, Or Any Other Cheese You Like
  • 4 whole Hamburger Buns
  • Any Other Desired Burger Toppings Such As Tomatoes, Lettuce, Etc.

Preparation

Preheat outdoor grill to medium high.

In a large bowl, mix all of the burger ingredients together. Divide the meat mixture into 4 even sized balls and form into patties with a slight depression in the middle of the patty for even cooking.

Put burgers onto the hot grill and cook for about 5 minutes per side or until done to your liking. Once you flip your patties once, top with a slice of cheese and cover the grill so that the cheese melts. Toast buns in the last two minutes of cooking, if desired. Remove everything from grill.

In a small bowl, stir together green chiles and enchilada sauce. Microwave for about 60 seconds to warm the mixture and set aside.

Build burger placing your cheeseburger on a bottom bun and then topping with lots of green chile sauce and any other desired toppings.

These were excellent! I used fresh roasted Hatch chilies instead of the canned, 90/10 beef (just because I prefer it over 80/20), and pepper jack cheese since that’s what I had on had. These burgers were great! So very moist and flavorful. Will definitely be keeping this one around as a family favorite. Thanks!! :)

My family loved these burgers. They were so moist and tasty. I left the green chili sauce off of my kids’ burgers and it will still good with the barbecue sauce flavoring. We look forward to making these again!

Well, I am generally a purist when it comes to burgers and usually avoid mixing things into the meat before I grill them. My husband is a big green chile fan, so I decided on a whim to try these burgers last night. We were VERY impressed!! The burgers were SO moist! They were different, but in a fun good way. They also got a nice carmelized crunch on the outside from the BBQ sauce, I assume. The only thing that we would change was the spice level…the sauce is extrememly mild and needs a kick. I ended up adding Tobasco to the sauce, which made it more to our spice liking. Next time, I plan to grill some jalapenos and maybe some poblanos to add to the toppings. Also, I dressed them with a bit of mayo, lettuce, tomato, and avocado, which turned out delicious! My husband ended up putting a bowl of the sauce beside him and spooning more over each bite! :-) Thank you for such a great recipe!!
