Blue Cheese Filled Bacon Wrapped Mushrooms

Recipe Description

Only a few ingredients go into this knock-out appetizer or quick dinner!

Preparation Instructions

1. Preheat oven to medium heat. Grease the grill lightly.
2. Clean tops of mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove stems.
3. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, blue cheese, salt, pepper and hot sauce together.
4. Divide cheese mixture evenly into mushroom cavities.
5. Cut each slice of bacon in half. Wrap around each mushroom and place a toothpick into the mushroom where the bacon ends overlap. (Make sure the toothpick is sticking out the side and is not in the top or bottom.)
6. Grill mushrooms 5–7 minutes per side or until bacon has grill marks, is slightly crispy, and the filling has melted.

Ingredients

12 whole Large Baby Portobello Mushrooms
4 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
2 ounces, weight Blue Cheese, Crumbled
Salt And Pepper
6 dashes Hot Sauce
6 slices Bacon

These are Amazing!!! Especially with steak. The only small thing was they were falling over on the grill so I finished them in the broiler. Maybe if you have one try making them in a grill basket? But other wise amazing and I will make again very soon and often.

As meleimomof4 said, I cooked the bottoms on my grill, but didn’t want to risk any of the filling running out , so I finished them under the broiler. added a few drops of worcestershire as well. The bleu cheese flavor was a real standout! and the hot sauce is a MUST! great recipe!!!

Tasted great! We too were a little concerned about the filling running out so put them upside down first and then flipped them over. We also used the broiler to finish them. Can’t wait to make these for guests!

I made these a few nights ago and they were wonderful. I could only eat one or two because they were really rich, but my husband didn’t mind eating the rest. These would be perfect for a cocktail party or a summer bbq/tailgating.

Made these the other day..I loved them..my hubby liked them but he’s not a big fan of blue cheese. Next time I’ll make half with blue cheese and half without. I also didn’t grill mine(no grill) I baked them an used the broiler to crisp up the bacon. Yummy!
