Description

Sneaking in those extra veggies has never been easier. The little people (my kids) always ask for more.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Cooking Oil
  • ½ cups Chopped Onion
  • ½ cups Diced Carrots
  • ½ cups Diced Zucchini
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Crushed
  • 1 pound Ground Meat, I Used Turkey
  • 1 jar (16 0z) Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Hot Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 1 pinch Sugar (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Basil, Chopped
  • 3 Tablespoons Parmesan Cheese, Grated
  • 1 box Dried Spaghetti Noodles (try Whole Wheat; 16 Ounce Box)

Preparation

Cook spaghetti noodles according to the directions on the box.

Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium high heat. When hot add in the cooking oil, onions, carrots, and zucchini; saute for 2 minutes. Next add in the ground meat and garlic and cook until meat is no longer pink; drain (if you are using lean meat, skip the draining step). Add the spaghetti sauce, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, Italian seasoning and pepper. Bring to a slight boil, then reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until heated through. Taste. If the sauce is bitter add in a pinch of sugar.

Serve the meat sauce over spaghetti, top with basil and Parmesan cheese.

Simple and really tasty! I used a bell pepper instead of zucchini because it’s what I had on hand and added the pinch of sugar. My husband was impressed! Thanks for a great recipe!

We really enjoyed a modified version of this (no hot sauce, Worcestershire, or Italian seasonings.)

Very good! The only veggie I used was shredded zucchini because I knew the other stuff would be detected!

Made this and got great reviews.. My 2 youngest kids and pickiest eaters didn’t even know they ate a enourmous zuccihini, squash, and carrots. The hubby said the best sauce ever. Thanks for the recipe.. We LOVE IT!

I saw this yesterday, knew I was making pasta for supper and decided I HAD to try it out!
Fabulous!!!
I love all the added veggies, Worcestershire and hot sauce!
Growing up all mom did was pour in the bottled sauce (which I still used!), and add meat. Not bad…but…
This really kicked it up for me!
Thanks for sharing it!
