Description

A tasty homemade garden burger made with veggies and beans.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Red Onion, Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Olive Oil
  • 1 cup Broccoli, Chopped
  • 1 whole Carrot, Peeled And Chopped (medium Sized)
  • 1 whole Zucchini, Grated (medium Sized)
  • 1 cup Cilantro, Chopped
  • 30 ounces, weight Canned Garbanzo Beans (Chick Peas), Drained And Rinsed
  • 1 Tablespoon Sir Kensington's Spicy Ketchup, Or Your Favorite Spicy Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Sir Kensington's Regular Ketchup, Or Your Favorite Ketchup
  • 3 Tablespoons Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 2 dashes Salt And Petter (to Taste)
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 5  Hamburger Buns Of Choice (we Used Onion Buns)
  • Optional Burger Garnishes Of Choice (cheese, Onions, Sliced Tomatoes, Etc)

Preparation

Add red onions and the first listed amount of olive oil into a skillet over medium heat. Add a pinch of salt and let onions cook and caramelize. Once onions are caramelized and golden, remove from heat and set aside to top your burger later.

Add broccoli, carrots, zucchini and cilantro into your food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add garbanzo beans, ketchup, whole wheat pastry flour, smoked paprika, salt and pepper and process until all ingredients are combined. Remove from food processor and form into patties (I got 5 patties out of this recipe).

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add remaining olive oil. When pan is hot add the patties and cook over medium high heat until crispy on the bottom side. Then flip and cook the other side until crispy. Be careful flipping to avoid burger breakage.

We ate these on onion buns topped with jack cheese, spinach, caramelized onions and tomato (plus extra Sir Kensington’s) and had fries and beers on the side.

Inspired by Jessica’s (how sweet it is) BBQ Cheddar Chickpea Burgers.
