Nowadays I am more aware of how sloppy Joes can be very high in calories due to the fat content of ground beef. However, when we swap it out for a lean meat like turkey, we save ourselves hundreds of calories. Plus, we get to welcome another food favorite back into our lives!
In a large pot, add ground turkey, poultry seasoning, garlic and onion. Start cooking over medium-high heat.
Once turkey is about 3/4 of the way browned, add Ro Tel, tomato paste and chili powder. Cook for another 5–7 minutes.
Add red pepper, honey and Italian seasoning. Combine well and remove from the heat. Let it sit, covered for 2–3 minutes.
Serve on whole wheat hamburger buns.
