Description

A fun and healthier version of the classic every family loves!

Ingredients

  • 1 slice White Bread
  • ¼ cups Milk
  • ½ cups Finely Diced Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Finely Minced
  • 1-¼ pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 Tablespoon Ketchup
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¾ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Dried Basil
  • ¼ teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Parsley
  • 24 cubes Mozzarella Cheese (1/2 Inch Cubes)
  • 1 jar Your Favorite Marinara Or Pasta Sauce, 14-16 Ounce Jar
  • ½ pounds Spaghetti Noodles, Cooked To Al Dente According To Package Instructions

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat and set aside.

Tear the slice of white bread into small pieces and place into a large bowl. Pour milk over top of the bread and let it soak while you chop the onions and garlic. Add the remaining ingredients {everything on the list down to but excluding the cheese} into the bowl and mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined. Scoop the meat mixture by the tablespoon into your hand and place a cube of cheese in the middle. Press the meat all around the cheese to cover completely and roll into a ball. Place on prepared baking sheet and continue stuffing the meatballs with cheese until you have 24 meatballs.

Bake for 20-23 minutes or until meat is thoroughly cooked. Serve with heated marinara sauce and cooked spaghetti noodles.

When I made mine, I thought all the cheese had melted out too, but it was just ‘stuff’ from the turkey. Are you sure it was cheese? Maybe try stuffing smaller cubes of cheese into the turkey meatballs?

Do you have any advice, how to keep the cheese from spilling out? I thought my meatballs looked pretty secure when I put them in, but when they were done at least half the cheese had leaked out in a little puddle. Or is that normal?

This was great! I had some trouble getting the cheese to stay in the meatballs, but it still tasted amazing!
