Looks Delicious! Simple and Delicious Tomato Soup with Salsa Verde

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Simple and Delicious Tomato Soup with Salsa Verde, submitted by TK member misspfui of I Am Zoe)

When I spotted this soup from misspfui months ago for our Grilled Cheese theme post, I thought to myself that it looked so pretty and sounded so delicious that it just may be the tomato soup that upstages the sandwich. Which is quite a tall order since, well, grilled cheese is pretty much a rock star in the sandwich world.

The salsa verde ingredient list is what really intrigues me here, and while the flavor combination may strike you as unusual, I have to say that imagining all those tastes thrown together makes my mouth water.

I think this’ll also make an excellent light lunch to take to work, along with a simple sandwich or a nice salad. If you’re worried about the fresh garlic in the salsa verde, you can always roast it ahead of time to make it less pungent.

Check out misspfui’s other equally beautiful recipes in her Tasty Kitchen recipe box. She also shares not just recipes but beautiful photographs in her blog i am zoe, named after her adorable dog. While you’re there, try to resist pinching the cheeks of your monitor when you see the photos of her little girl. My goodness, that’s one cute baby.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

Looks Delicious! Cinnamon Chai Cream Pie

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Cinnamon Chai Cream Pie, submitted by TK member Amber Potter of Sprinkled with Flour)

I know I said I wanted to hold on to summer a bit longer, but honestly, I’m also looking forward to fall and all its wonderful flavors. For me, fall usually means our favorite food items become available in pumpkin flavor, and there’s nothing like warm drinks and the scent of apples and spice to really complement that nice chill in the air.

Pair those flavors with a silky cream pie, and you get an incredible Cinnamon Chai Cream Pie like the one posted by sprinkledwithflour. It has a graham cracker crust that’s kicked up with toasted hazelnuts and almonds, a cinnamon pudding filling, topped with chai-infused whipped cream.

In her blog post, she says the recipe was a “disaster turned delicious.” From where I’m standing, it looks like an absolute autumnal triumph.

Thanks for a wonderful recipe, Amber!

Do check out Amber’s blog Sprinkled with Flour for more of her delicious recipes, including a Caramelized Pineapple and Cinnamon Creme Brulee that looks simply divine.

Looks Delicious! Linguine with Seafood, Fresh Fennel and Tomatoes

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Linguine with Seafood, Fresh Fennel and Tomatoes, submitted by TK member Erica of Apricosa)

Summer isn’t officially over yet, but it sure feels like it. Kids are back in school and we just came out of the last long holiday weekend of the season. So we thought we’d show you this quick little recipe that you can throw together for dinner tonight. Because, well, maybe most of us enjoyed that weekend barbecue a little too much. Or perhaps we braved those crowds taking advantage of the final back-to-school sales and returned home triumphant but exhausted.

Or, now that the kids are out of the house, we might be contemplating an all-day pampering that includes a long bath, a good read, and maybe those chocolate cookies for lunch. (Please tell me I’m not the only one.)

Either way, a scrumptious and healthy dinner that comes together in no time is always a welcome option, regardless of how busy you are or how lazy you feel. Which is why we want to show you this quick and easy meal from Tasty Kitchen member Apricosa (Erica), which she adapted from Bon Appetit’s “Fast Easy Fresh” series. As she explains in her blog post, the simplicity of the sauce lets the stars of the dish take center stage.

This yummy recipe is absolutely simple. You sauté some aromatics and then braise the seafood in some white wine while the pasta is cooking. Toss in some tomatoes to heat through and then plate everything with some lemon wedges and parsley. Just like that, in less than half an hour, you’ve got a great home-cooked meal on the table and no one has to know about your grueling day of pampering.

Thanks again, Erica, for posting this wonderful recipe! See her blog Apricosa for more of her yummy recipes!

Looks Delicious! Savory Tomato and Feta Crostata

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Savory Tomato and Feta Crostata, submitted by TK member Erica of Apricosa)

I can’t stop thinking about this recipe from Tasty Kitchen Member Apricosa (Erica). The light filling of cottage cheese, feta cheese, and tomato sounds delicious at this time of year, but it’s the beautiful light green crust—the result of the addition of basil—that really caught my eye. I’ll be trying this over the weekend, as I have tomatoes and basil I need to use. I just love the way it looks, and I can only imagine how delicious it is.

Thank you, Erica, for the gorgeous recipe!

Happy weekend, everyone!

All summer long, I’ve been dreaming about this Grilled Portabella and Brie Burger posted by TK member Aggie’s Kitchen. It’s so easy and simple, but I can already imagine the flavor explosion you get when you first bite into it. The balsamic and olive oil-marinated mushroom caps, the layers of grilled vegetables (I like […]

Drinks

Posted by in Holidays, Looks Delicious!

Around this time of the year, appetizers, gift trays or baskets, and meal plans get a lot of attention. Drinks? Sometimes they’re an afterthought. Or sometimes we just default to the standard fare we get at the store. The planning that goes into it pretty much involves figuring out how many bags of ice […]
