Posted by in Baking, Holidays, Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Fleur de Sel Caramel Brownies, submitted by TK members Neil and Whitney of The Newlywed Chefs)

We’ve been so busy getting our new site ready to share with you (more on that later!) that we haven’t spent the endless hours we would have liked obsessing about Valentine’s Day desserts. Inexcusable! Let’s just fix that right now. This one jumped out at us right away. Decadent, rich and a little salty, we’re quite sure these Fleur de Sel Caramel Brownies will make your honey happy.

Thanks to Neil and Whitney for sharing this lovely Valentine treat with us. Be sure to check out their site, The Newlywed Chefs, for more treats and simply beautiful, everyday food.

Looks Delicious! Flourless Lemon Blueberry Protein Pancakes

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Lemon Blueberry High Protein Pancakes, submitted by TK member Lacey Baier of A Sweet Pea Chef)

Smoothies have become my default summer morning option, and they’ve been doing right by me so far. I get a nice dose of protein to start my day, a cool drink to battle the rising temperatures, and the satisfaction of knowing I fed myself a healthy breakfast. But sometimes … sometimes I’d rather not drink my breakfast. Sometimes I want something warm and comforting, like sausages, or fried eggs, or yes, even grits. Mostly, though, when I want something warm, I want pancakes. Which is a bit tricky when I’m also avoiding gluten.

Enter these Lemon Blueberry High Protein Pancakes from TK member Lacey. These pancakes may masquerade as a breakfast splurge but deep inside, they’re actually good for you. And flourless, too! In fact, the ingredient list bears a striking resemblance to many a smoothie recipe. At only slightly more than 100 calories and 13 grams of protein per pancake, it wins a spot on my breakfast menu rotation.

Thanks for sharing this, Lacey! Now I know what to make when the pancake urge hits. Click on the photo above to get the printable!

Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start!

Looks Delicious! French Burgers with Easy French Fries

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (French Burgers & French Fries, submitted by TK member Christina of Dessert for Two)

It’s Friday! That means we have another summer weekend almost upon us, and hopefully that weekend brings with it some grill time. If you’re looking to change up your usual burger fare, have I got the burger for you.

These French Burgers with Easy French Fries from Tasty Kitchen member Christina have been calling my name ever since I laid eyes on them. First, there’s that lemony, herby chicken. With cornichons. (I’ve never been able to get over how cute those tiny pickles are.) On a baguette. With brie. Slather a bit of mayo in there, and I’m done.

As a bonus, we also get these easy French fries, using a unique method from America’s Test Kitchen. Burgers and fries with a twist. And brie! Did I mention brie?

Thanks for sharing this, Christina! Check out her blog, Dessert for Two, for more great recipes and beautiful photography. (Oh, and if you want the printable recipe, just click on the photo above.)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Looks Delicious! Fried Green Tomatoes on Polenta

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! (Fried Green Tomatoes on Polenta Rounds with Peppers, Onions, and Bacon, submitted by TK member Natalie Perry of Perry's Plate)

We’re going to start singling out submitted Tasty Kitchen recipes and featuring them here, as Erika did yesterday with the Linguine with Seafood recipe (which I’m still drooling over.) Watch for new highlighted recipes each week!

This recipe, Fried Green Tomatoes on Polenta Rounds with Peppers, Onions, and Bacon, comes from Natalie (Perrys’ Plate), whose recipe box never fails to knock me over with deliciousness. (Don’t even look at her Itty Bitty Burgers today. Yikes.)

To make the recipe, which would make an impressive cocktail party appetizer or dinner party first course, you also need these Fried Green Tomatoes.

Polenta … fried green tomatoes, red bell pepper, bacon, onion …

I love the look of this recipe! It’s a little fancy for a weeknight meal, but with friends on a Friday night?

Yes.

Yes, please.

Thank you, Natalie, for sharing!

Be sure check out Natalie’s blog, Perry’s Plate. Yummy stuff!

Wow everyone with a show-stopping dessert that just might be the star of your cookout. If you don't have time to make the almond cookie pie crust (if you can, we highly recommend it), feel free to grab a package of your favorite readymade cookie dough! We won't tell if you won't.

Looks Delicious! Game Day

The weekend is upon us, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s about time! You know what an October weekend means: folks will be planted in front of the television watching some kind of ball being thrown or hit or kicked. This weekend we’ve got NFL games, college football, soccer, tennis, golf … I heard […]

Looks Delicious! Gefilte Fish

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

I’ve never had gefilte fish before. Honestly, for the longest time, the thing that came to mind first whenever someone said “gefilte fish” is that outtake from Rush Hour 2 where Chris Tucker is desperately trying to say “gefilte fish” and miserably fails each time. (Sorry. Inadvertent movie confession moment there.) But this…
