Description

Why is it secret? I have no idea. This is what the women in my family call this salad, and really when it comes to family tradition, why ask why? This is a yummy and fast salad to serve for a quick dinner, or take to a party.

Ingredients

  • ½ whole Yellow Cabbage Head (shredded Thin)
  • 4 whole Green Onions, Chopped Small
  • 2 Tablespoons Sesame Seeds, Toasted
  • ½ cups Slivered Almonds, Toasted
  • 1 package (3 Oz. Package) Chicken Flavored Ramen Noodles (uncooked)
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil Or Olive Oil, Or Less As Needed
  • 3 Tablespoons Rice Wine Vinegar
  • ½ teaspoons Salt And Pepper
  • 2 whole Chicken Breasts (Optional)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350F. Combine almonds and sesame seeds and toast for 15 mins until brown.

2. For the dressing, whisk together the flavor packet from the ramen, vinegar, oil, salt and pepper. (If NOT adding chicken, do not add salt. There is enough in the noodle flavor packet.) Set aside.

3. In a large salad bowl, combine cabbage, onions, uncooked noodles (broken into small bits by crushing on the counter), toasted almonds and sesame seeds.

4. If adding chicken, boil breasts and pull apart with forks, or grill (seasoned only with garlic powder) and cut into cube. Then add the chicken to the bowl.

5. Toss with the dressing just before serving.
