I made this curry for dinner this evening and it was pretty tasty! I added a few more veggies (carrots, peppers and cauliflower) and kind of improvised on the spice mixture but it still had good flavour and wasn’t too spicy. When I asked my husband if he wanted some for lunch tomorrow, he said “Yes please!” which means that it’s really good!

The sauce was pretty tasty, I added a little fresh ginger as well, but the chicken was bone dry and tasteless. Maybe next time I’ll use boneless chicken thighs. Or maybe I’ll just stick to Indian Butter Chicken.

I eat a lot of curry from a variety of different countries, and my husband lived in Pakistan, so we’re no strangers to curries both simple and complex. This smells amazing, but tastes worse than just bland. I hate to give a bad review, but we are now fighting over who has to eat the leftovers, and most of it will probably get thrown out.

I’m not sure why this hasn’t gotten better reviews. I made this today and it is SO good. I didn’t make it spicy for my 7 year old’s sake, but that’s nothing a few drops of flavorful hot sauce can’t cure. The chicken is perfect and the sauce is so delicious! I didn’t have garam masala, so I made due with making a mixture of my own, minus cardamom which I didn’t have. Based on my experience with curries, this is a good basic homemade curry. I will definitely experiment with flavors and heat but I am keeping this one in my recipe book!

I made this last week with a couple of additions: I added ginger paste, some extra of both the curry and garam masala, and toward the end of cooking about 1T of butter and 1-2T of honey (because I like my curry a little sweeter). I thought it was very tasty, but the chicken did get a little… dry? Funky? It tasted like slow-cooker chicken, which has never been my favorite thing. But the sauce was EXCELLENT and as long as the chicken pieces are bite size rather than huge cubes, you won’t have any problem with dryness.
This is a really really yummy basic curry that my husband adored and I will definitely be making again.

This was really good! My husband and I are big on Indian food and this did not disappoint. Plus it makes the whole house smell SOOOO good!

We had to improvise on this recipe due to time and not having a few things but it was still quite good. The sauce especially was delicious!
Changes:
- half a red pepper and a seeded jalepeno for the green pepper and dried chili peppers.
-Added sliced sweet potatoes w/ the chicken (Yum!)
- No time for the crock pot. Let it simmer on the stove for about 2 hours to cook out the raw onion taste and soften the sweet potatoes. Added at least 1 c water to keep it from getting to thick. Removed the chicken about halfway (it was fully cooked then) which solved the dryness problem others had.

I made this for dinner last night and unfortunately it just wasn’t that great (although the house smelled amazing!). I agree with other reviews that the chicken was dry and bland and the sauce needed something more – just not sure what. I’m always on the hunt for easy, delicious curry recipes, and I’m beginning to think “easy” and “curry” just don’t go together!

My family loved this dish! Personally, I would have like to taste a little more coconut but that’s just me. Some reviews complained of tough chicken and I wonder if they cooked it too long.
I shared this recipe on my blog http://www.hugskissesandsnot.wordpress.com
Thank you!

We gave this recipe a try – and it had mixed reviews. The texture of the sauce was perfect (and what a great sneaky way to add veggies!) and the chicken was cooked perfectly, but we found the recipe to be a little bland.
My husband added hot sauce to his leftovers the next day, and found that did the trick. It did make our kitchen smell lovely, though.
We will definitely give it another shot, but we’ll add our own twist on the next batch…

I would love to make this but I would be the only one eating it. I might do it anyway.

Yum, sounds great! Is a bunch of coriander is the same as cilantro right?

My husband made this for me this weekend for Mother’s Day (UK). We LOVED it. It made enough for dinner and leftovers the next day. I had leant my slow cooker to a friend so we just used our dutch oven. We put the oven on full whack at first then turned it down for about an hour and it was good as gold. Can’t wait to use this recipe again in the slow cooker. We’re already planning on using it the next time we entertain – it’s the perfect combination of low effort and big impact.

Made this last night; it was FABULOUS. I loved the mixture of flavors. I thought that the fresh cilantro (coriander) really was necessary; it added a nice touch. The only change I made was to use light coconut milk, which came out fine. Thanks for the great recipe!

Just put together this recipe and started the crockpot!! I made a few tweaks because I didn’t have any coconut milk, I used chicken stock instead. I used 2 T Curry Powder, 1 tsp cumin, and 1 T Garam Masala. I also added a few more cloves of garlic and a 1-inch piece of peeled, minced ginger! I didn’t have any red chiles and I love spice so I added 1 whole, seeded jalapeno I had in the fridge. Just before serving I am going to add 1/2 to 1 cup of plain greek yogurt. I can’t wait to see how it turns out in 6-7 hours, I’ll let you know. At the moment it smells absolutely amazing
