Description

A simple yet delicious alternative to a traditional burger. This is a flavorful and delicious black bean burger and even if you have never tried one, I would give this a shot. It is scrumptious.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15 Oz. Size) Black Beans
  • 1 Tablespoon Red Pepper (fresh)
  • 1 Tablespoon Sliced Green Onions
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped Garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ cups Panko Bread Crumbs (coarse)
  • 4 dashes Tabasco Sauce
  • 4  Hamburger Buns
  • Burger Toppings Of Choice

Preparation

Drain and rinse black beans. Remove about half the beans and place them in a large mixing bowl. With a fork, smash the beans in the bowl to a mealy consistency. Add remaining beans and mix together. Add pepper, onion, garlic, cilantro, egg and breadcrumbs and mix to combine. Add Tabasco and mix.

Refrigerate for 10 minutes.

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and spray with cooking spray.

Divide the bean mixture into 4 equal portions. Pat each section into a patty, like a beef patty.

Place patties in the skillet and heat over medium heat for 5-6 minutes. Turn over the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

Serve on bun with your favorite toppings. We used the chipotle mayo (recipe can be found on our recipe for fish tacos).
