Description

This can be made for breakfast, but we like it for supper as well. Easy to make comfort food!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Bulk Pork Sausage (sage Flavored Can Be Used, If You Prefer)
  • 2 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Onion
  • 6 Tablespoons All-purpose Flour
  • 1 quart (4 Cups) Milk (2% Or Whole Is Best)
  • ½ teaspoons Poultry Seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 dash Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 dashes Hot Pepper Sauce
  • 1 whole Batch Of Hot Biscuits (from A Can Or Your Favorite Homemade)

Preparation

Crumble sausage into a large saucepan; cook over medium-low heat until it starts to brown. Add onion; cook and stir until tender. Drain, discarding all but 2 Tablespoons of drippings and put the sausage mixture back into your saucepan.

Stir in flour; cook over medium-low heat about 4 – 6 minutes, or until mixture bubbles and turns golden. Stir in milk.

Add seasonings; cook, stirring, until thickened.

To serve, slice biscuits and spoon gravy over halves.

Hubby and kids have been begging for me to make these. I never liked them much, so never looked around for a recipe, then Lo! here it is when I open your recipe box! It’s a sign! PRINTED! and in my recipe box now too!

fabulous recipe – and very easy! The flavors are great – the hot sauce does add kick, which I love, but my 2 children don’t. Next time I make this, I’ll leave out the hot sauce and add some fresh ground pepper.

This recipe was so tasty! A few suggestions: 1. Definitely make homemade biscuits–canned won’t do the gravy justice, 2. Adjust the timing…definitely takes longer than 25 minutes start to finish!
