Description

Great way to make the restaurant favorite at home!

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Sheet Frozen Puff Pastry (half Of A 17.3 Oz Package) Thawed
  • 4 teaspoons Honey Mustard
  • 4 slices Smoked Turkey
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 4 slices Smoked Ham
  • 1 whole Large Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons Confectioners Sugar
  • ⅓ cups Raspberry Preserves

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment. Unfold pastry and cut into 4 equal squares.

2. Spread 1 teaspoon mustard on each pastry square, leaving 1/4 inch border. Layer 1 slice turkey, 1 slice Swiss, and 1 slice ham in the center of each square. Whisk egg with 1 tablespoon water; brush onto edges of the square. Fold squares to form triangles and crimp edges to seal. Place on a baking sheet and brush with remaining egg mixture.

3. Bake pastries for 25 minutes or until golden. Dust with sugar and serve with preserves on the side.

I just made these tonight and they were very good! My kids (age 2 and 4) even liked them! I bought prepackaged cheese, ham and turkey (deli was closed when I was shopping). I wish I had fresh deli meats and cheese. Next time I make these I will have the deli slice the meat and cheese thin as the thicker cuts made it difficult to fold the puff pastry around. This is my husband’s favorite sandwich–he use to order it at Bennigan’s and they are no longer around. I have tried several versions of the Monte Cristo (I don’t have a deep fryer) and this is the closest I have come. He gave it two thumbs up and asked me make it again!! Thanks for a yummy recipe!

Very good! Make sure you have the deli slice your meat and cheese thin as it will be easier to fold your puff pastry over the filling! Also, I didn’t have any honey mustard so I made some by mixing a little mayo, a squirt of yellow mustard, a big squirt of honey and a splash of lemon juice! Also, a very kid friendly recipe–my daughter loved the powdered sugar on top and also loved dipping her sandwich in the raspberry preserves!
