Made this tonight. perfect for the frigid Minnesota winter. I halved the recipe, and it worked great. Next time will make the whole thing and freeze some because we have none left, everyone just loved it! Very very tasty.

I made this for lunch today since the whole family was home for a snow day. It was a huge hit with everyone. My two kids that do not like anything even remotely with any spice ate one very small serving but liked it. The other two kids had seconds and thirds and my husband and I well … we made up for what the kids didn’t
We garnished with fresh Avocado, shredded cheese and sour cream. I did not have corn tortillas so we crumbled tortilla chips in our bowls and it was perfect.

SO, SO good! I have some pretty good Mexican recipes since I married into a Mexican family, but this one definitely beats my Tortilla Soup recipe. Hands down! The kids had seconds and thirds. A winner, for sure.

Made this for dinner tonight and it received rave reviews all around!! I used some of my leftover crockpot taco chicken, fire-roasted frozen corn and fried my tortilla strips. Also, I had crumbled queso as one of the toppings and LOVED that! The kiddo preferred the monterey jack though.
Definite keeper recipe!!!

I made this soup for dinner last night, and it’s INCREDIBLE! I highly suggest making this for one of these cold winter nights. Definitely warmed my soul!

Loved your direction for roasting the chicken breasts. The spice mixture is fantastic. We all enjoyed the soup as well.

pretty darn good.
i do recommend adding the lime, as was suggested in the comments. & i snuck in a little lemonpepper, too.
i think i would give this 5 mitts, but i live in texas & i’ve had such amazing tortilla soup in restaurants around here, that i’m just spoiled. still searching for how they do it so well (will share when i discover the secret!).

This was awesome and super easy. I roasted bone in chicken breasts and used a frozen mix of peppers and onions, with some extra onion added. My boyfriend loved it and we ate it for leftovers for a few night. I topped it with sour cream and Ree’s restaurant style salsa.

I made this soup for dinner last week, and boy, was it good! I will definitely be making it again.

Made this in the crock pot today and it was a huge hit…absolutely fabulous!! I added a cup of frozen corn and reduced the water to 1 cup. I also baked the tortilla strips and served as a garnish instead of adding them to the soup. This got a thumbs up from everyone around the dinner table and is a definite keeper!!

This sounds like the perfect lunch on -7 degree day here in South Dakota. Need something to warm up and this sounds hot and spicy. I think I even have all of the ingredients!

We had this today and loved it. I did make two small changes. We did not have any corn tortillas so we put crushed tortilla chips in our bowls which was great. I also added 1 cup of frozen corn. We loved it and will be making it again.

I am in search of a good tortilla soup recipe. I haven’t found one so far that I have been completely happy with. Can’t wait to try this one!

So how do the tortilla strips hold up the second day? Not too soggy to serve as leftovers, I hope?!?!

I made this last night…my husband said, “I believe this is the best soup you’ve ever made.” I had left-overs because it’s just the two of us. I’m going to try freezing it for later use. Has anyone done this? This is definitely a KEEPER, thanks for the recipe!

Yummy! I only used about 2 cups of water, and since my husband is not a bean eater, I stirred in a can of refried beans instead of the black beans (if he noticed, he didn’t say
_The soup was thicker, and we liked it that way.

I made this soup yesterday and it was a big hit with the crowd. Luckily I kind of doubled it so there are leftovers for my husband and I. I added a can of cheese soup to it for something new and it was delicious. Thanks for sharing the recipe !!

I chose this because I had a can of Rotel tomatoes with green chilies and this recipe had some of everything I liked about the others I checked. It was probably the most delicious tortilla soup I’ve had east of Taos. I used a rotisserie chicken to make the broth and used about half the chicken. Fabulous. Absolutely nothing to change here. Can’t wait for the leftovers.
