Description

Simple and delicious recipe for baked ziti. From my kitchen to yours.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces, weight Penne
  • 1 jar (26 Oz. Size) Pasta Sauce Or Use Homemade
  • ½ pounds Cubed Mozzarella
  • ¾ cups Grated Parmesan Cheese, Divided
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1 cup Part Skim Ricotta
  • 1-⅔ cup Shredded Mozzarella, Divided

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400ºF.

Boil penne in salted water until 2 minutes shy of al dente. Strain, and place in a large bowl. Add pasta sauce, cubed mozzarella, and 1/2 cup parmesan cheese. Place in a large casserole dish.

In a small bowl, beat egg. Add ricotta, 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella, and remaining parmesan cheese. Mix together and spread evenly over top of the pasta mixture. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup shredded mozzarella on top.

Bake for 20–30 minutes, or until top begins to brown.

I chose this ziti from the list because it looked like it had the most ricotta-style cheese (which my kids love). It did not disappoint: easy to make and the family enjoyed. Our only changes would be to actually increase (maybe even double) the amount of pasta sauce and cheeses. . . we like it really saucy and gooey. Thank you for sharing your recipe, ambers hands!

Yummy, and filling. This was perfect for this chilly night. The cheese mix on top added a nice creamy touch.

Very good! Neither my husband or I are big fans of meatless dishes, but this was awesome!
