Description

Super easy dinner that will stick to your ribs. Simple and flavorful.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flour, All Purpose
  • 2-½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Shortening
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce, Or More To Taste
  • Salt And Pepper
  • ¼ cups Half-and-Half Or Milk
  • 2 whole Tomatoes, Sliced
  • 2 whole Eggs, Lightly Beaten
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375˚F.

Mix together flour, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Cut in butter and shortening until it resembles a coarse meal. Set aside.

Cook beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until beef has browned. Drain grease if necessary and add Worcestershire sauce and mix it in. Measure out 2 tablespoons of the flour mixture and add it to the skillet, mixing to coat the meat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

Mix half-and-half in with remaining flour mixture and stir gently. Add more half-and-half (1 teaspoon at a time) if needed to bring the dough together.

Press dough into a 9″ pie plate, on the bottom and up the sides.

Pour meat mixture on top of the dough. Arrange tomato slices on top of the meat to cover. Mix eggs and cheese together in a small bowl and spread over the top of the tomatoes.

Cook for 30 minutes. Then remove it from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes. Slice into 8 pieces and serve.

So easy and very tasty! I did not have any half and half or milk so I used beef broth in the crust. It was suprisingly good!
