Description

Creamy and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Macaroni, Any Kind You Prefer, I Use Shells
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1  Onion, Diced
  • 1  Bay Leaf
  • 1 cup Cubed Ham, Fried In A Skillet
  • ½ Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ teaspoons Paprika
  • 1  Egg
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • Salt And Pepper

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions for al dente.

While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a separate pot over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and keep stirring and heating it for about 5 minutes. Make sure it’s free of lumps.

Stir in the milk, mustard, onion, bay leaf, ham, Worcestershire sauce and paprika. Simmer for 10 minutes and then remove the bay leaf.

Crack the egg into a small bowl and add some of the hot milk mixture, stirring it rapidly while you do. This will temper the egg. Add the egg and the cheese back into the hot milk mixture, stirring rapidly. Season with salt and pepper.

Fold the macaroni into the mix and then pour it into a 2-quart casserole dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
