Description

A typical 5 Cup Fruit Salad is very similar, but this fruit salad utilizes fresh strawberries and bananas, and omits the coconut. This recipe is from my mom and is totally delicious and comforting.

Ingredients

  • 20 ounces, weight Can Pineapple Tidbits, Drained
  • 22 ounces, weight Mandarin Oranges, Drained (two Small Cans)
  • 2 whole Large Sliced Bananas
  • 2 cups Sliced Strawberries
  • 10-½ ounces, weight Mini Marshmallows
  • 8 ounces, weight Sour Cream

Preparation

Note: You can use more or less than a full package marshmallows. It all depends on how much you love mallows.

Mix all ingredients and let it sit in the fridge for a short while so flavors can develop.

This is delicious. To vary it a little, omit the berries and bananas. Then add seedless grapes, red and green are nice. Toast 1 cup of chopped walnuts ,or pecans, and add. This keeps well if any is left. :0).

Looks delicious! Of course, being allergic to pineapples, I’ll have to alter it a bit, but I’ll definitely give it a try soon. Also, I’m gonna have to cut up big marshmallows because we don’t have mini-mallows here in Switzerland. I love that you called it “Retro” btw, it really does sound a bit like that.
