This is my version of a fresh chick pea salad that’s a really popular and long-time snack all over India and Pakistan. It takes just a few minutes to prepare (no cooking!) and makes a great side!
Boil the potato until cooked but firm. After it’s cooled, peel and chop it up into small cubes. Drain and rinse the chick peas and mix them and the potatoes together with the tomato, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lemon/lime juice and spices. If you can’t find chaat masala, just add enough salt, black pepper, cumin powder and lemon juice to achieve a spicy, tangy flavor. Serve chilled.
