Description

This is a staple in our house at the holidays. It’s a nice twist on a Jello side without the chunks of stuff in it!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Applesauce
  • 1 box Jell-O Lime Gelatin (needs To Be A Large Box, 6 Oz)
  • 2 cups Lemon-lime Soda-pop (I Like Shasta)

Preparation

Pour applesauce into a saucepan and place on medium heat. Bring it to a boil. You’ll need to watch it carefully as it will start to bubble long before it is even hot. Once applesauce reaches a nice, steaming boil, remove from heat and dissolve the lime Jello mix in it. Stir for a couple of minutes to make sure it is well dissolved. Carefully pour in the cold soda-pop. One can is just about the right amount with a little left over to sip as you are stirring. Stir carefully. There will be some foam on the top but it will disappear as the Jello sets up. Pour into a glass bowl for serving. Refrigerate for 4 hours to set up.

You can also use other flavors of Jello. Black cherry is a really nice one to make with the lime soda at the holidays.

This can also be made sugar-free if you are diabetic. Use diet soda-pop, sugar-free Jello and natural applesauce.

Hadn’t heard of this before, but lime jello is my second favorite!
