Description

Whole wheat pasta, sauteed shrimp, and a light alfredo sauce.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, weight Whole Wheat Pasta
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic, Minced
  • 1 pound Shrimp, Peeled And Deveined

Preparation

Boil pasta according to package directions. In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. SLOWLY add in milk, stirring until smooth. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium and cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in cheese, salt and pepper to taste.

In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add shrimp and cook until pink. Do not overcook. Add shrimp to alfredo sauce and serve over pasta.

I made this last night…we were in the mood for some creamy pasta that wasn’t TOO heavy. This was perfect! The sauce is lighter than any alfredo I have ever made. So delicious! Thanks for the recipe!
