Description

Tuna cooked with sautéed onions, olive oil and tomato, folded into spaghetti noodles and béchamel sauce. And then it goes into the oven sprinkled with grated cheese. Served garnished with thyme. Enough said?

Ingredients

  • 350 grams Spaghetti Noodles
  • Salt To Taste
  • 1  Small Onion, Peeled, To Cook With The Pasta
  • ¼ cups Olive Oil
  • 1  Large Onion, Thinly Sliced
  • 1  Bay Leaf
  • 2  Medium Ripe Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 400 grams Canned Tuna, Drained
  • 2 cups Béchamel Sauce, Store Bought White Sauce, Or Homemade
  • 1 cup Grated Cheese, Or To Taste
  • Thyme For Garnish

Preparation

Cook spaghetti in a pan with water seasoned with a peeled whole onion and a little salt. When pasta is cooked according to package instructions, drain and set aside on a plate.

Preheat oven to 180ºC (355ºF). Place olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Then add onion slices, bay leaf and tomatoes. Sauté over low heat until tomatoes start to break down.

Add tuna, stir and cook 2–3 minutes. Add spaghetti along with béchamel sauce and fold carefully. Turn off heat. Pour mixture into a glass baking dish and sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake for about 25–30 minutes or until slightly browned on top.

Remove from oven, sprinkle with thyme, and serve.
