Description

A quick and easy after school snack or dinner you can make in your toaster oven.

Ingredients

  • 2  Whole Wheat Bagels
  • ¼ cups Marinara Sauce (or Your Favorite Pizza/pasta Sauce)
  • ¼ teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • ⅛ teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • ¾ cups Shredded Low Moisture Mozzarella Cheese
  • 4  Mini Sweet Peppers, Thinly Sliced (or 1/4 Cup Chopped Bell Pepper)
  • 3 Tablespoons Sliced Black Olives
  • 1 teaspoon Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Fresh Basil

Preparation

Preheat toaster oven to 375ºF and lightly oil your cookie sheet or cover it with parchment paper.

Slice the bagels in half and place on the cookie sheet with the insides facing up.

Spread each half with 1 tablespoon of sauce and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes if using. Cover each bagel with 2 tablespoons of cheese. Distribute the peppers and olives evenly among the bagels and top each one with 1 tablespoon of the remaining cheese.

Bake pizza bagels for 8–9 minutes until cheese is melted. Turn toaster oven to broil and cook for another 1–3 minutes until bagel edges are crispy and cheese is bubbly and browned.

Let bagels cool for a few minutes before serving with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
