Description

A tasty pulled pork sandwich with a special ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds Pork Butt
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cracked Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 3 whole Onions; Peeled And Cut In Wedges
  • 2 teaspoons Minced Garlic
  • 5 cups Root Beer, Not Diet, Divided
  • 1 bottle (12 Oz. Bottle) Chili Sauce (heinz)
  • ½ teaspoons Hot Sauce (lousiana Style)
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 1 whole Pickled Jalapeno Pepper, Diced (optional)

Preparation

Rub the roast all over with the salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large pan and sear all sides. Place roast in a slow cooker with onion wedges, garlic and 1 cup root beer. Set on low and cook for 8 hours (5 hours if you set it on high). Remove pork to a plate and shred pork with two forks.

Prepare the sauce. In a medium sauce pan, place the remaining 4 cups root beer, chili sauce, hot sauce, garlic and jalapeno pepper if using. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer on low for about 45 minutes stirring often until sauce thickens.

Toss the sauce into the shredded pork. Serve on a toasted bun. Enjoy.
