Gourmet meals for children are not your choice of gourmet meals. Ever wasted time on a fancy meal only to have your youngsters turn up their noses? Now you can prepare both. I’ve never known a kid/teenager who didn’t love this simple meal.
My grammy made this when my dad was little, so my mom had to make it, too! It is pronounced Mac-Sou-Me which is hopefully self-explanatory. Serve with green salad and garlic toast.
Cook up the crumbled hamburger in a frying pan.
At the same time, cook the macaroni in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente (don’t you love that description).
Add the tomato soup to the cooked hamburger and mix.
Drain the macaroni and return it to the large pot. Add the soup and burger to the macaroni, and serve to the kids.
Obviously, you can mix these 3 ingredients in any order, since it all turns out the same.
Your children/grandchildren will thank you. If you add onion, garlic, green pepper, or any of the usual add-ins, I can’t guarantee success—even though I agree (for adults) it would be welcome.
