Description

A delicious pasta bake your entire family will enjoy! You can make this a tad healthier by using whole wheat pasta, ground turkey/turkey sausage, low or no fat sour cream and reduced fat cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Whole Wheat Or Regular Pasta (ziti, Penne, Rotini)
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Or Ground Turkey
  • 1 package Spicy Italian Sausage (I Use Turkey Sausage), Casings Removed
  • 1 whole Onion, Diced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 2 dashes Salt And Pepper
  • 1 dash Red Pepper Flakes (to Your Taste)
  • 10 ounces, weight Box Frozen Spinach
  • 2 jars Your Favorite Pasta Sauce
  • 16 slices Mozzarella Cheese
  • 8 ounces, weight Sour Cream
  • 2 dashes Italian Seasoning
  • 16 slices Provolone Cheese
  • 8 ounces, weight Package Shredded Italian Cheese Blend

Preparation

Boil water and cook pasta according to directions on the box.
 
Brown ground meet and sausage with onion and garlic.  Drain fat.  Season with salt, pepper and red pepper flakes.
 
Cook spinach in microwave or on stove top according to directions on the box.
 
Mix drained pasta with one jar of sauce.
 
Mix meat and spinach with the other jar of sauce.
 
Fill the bottom of a 9×13 pan with half of the pasta.  Line 8 slices of mozzarella cheese over the pasta mixture. 

Spread a layer of sour cream over mozzarella.  Sprinkle some Italian seasoning on the sour cream. 

Top sour cream with 8 provolone slices.  Add half of the meat sauce on top of the cheese. 

Repeat pasta, cheese, sour cream, meat layers.  Top with the shredded Italian cheese blend.
 
Bake at 375 for 50-55 minutes.
