Tasty sandwiches made in a horizontally-sliced loaf of French bread.
Cut bread in half lengthwise; carefully hollow out the bread from the middle of the loaf, discarding or saving the pieces for another use. Spread the butter and mayonnaise on the inside of the bread shells.
In a skillet, cook and scramble the eggs until done. Season with salt and pepper.
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Assemble sandwich by placing the ham on the bottom loaf, followed by the tomato and onion, then the eggs, and lastly the cheese. Place the loaf top on, and wrap the sandwich in a large piece of greased foil. If your foil isn’t big enough, cut the loaf in half and wrap each in foil.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or till heated through. Cut into portions and serve.
