Description

A rich and absolutely delicious burger loaded with red wine sauteed mushrooms, grilled avocado slices and Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Seasoned Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 3 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 1 pound Mushrooms, Washed And Sliced
  • ⅓ cups Red Wine
  • 1 Tablespoon Flour
  • ¼ cups Cold Water
  • 1 whole Avocado
  • 4 whole Hamburger Rolls
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese

Preparation

Combine the beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Form into patties and refrigerate. In a saute pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the mushrooms and saute for about 2-3 minutes, stirring. Add the red wine, bring to a slight boil and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring frequently, about 15-20 minutes. Combine the flour and water; add to the mushrooms. Stir until thickened, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and cover.

Prepare your grill.

Cut the avocado lengthwise down the middle, peel the halves and remove the pit.

Once the grill is ready, add the burgers. When they have just a couple of minutes left, add the avocado halves cut side down on the grill; they only take about 1 or 2 minutes so watch them carefully. Cut them into fairly thin slices.

To assemble, spoon some of the mushrooms on top of the burger, the Swiss cheese, then avocado.

This was SO good! I only changed a few things (didn’t grill the avocado, and skipped adding thickener to the mushrooms) but otherwise followed the recipe. We added BBQ sauce to ours and all of us LOVED this recipe. The creamy avocado really compliments the rest of the flavors and textures in this burger. Yumm!
