Description

Fancy mac and cheese that’s pure comfort food!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Bow Tie Pasta
  • 5 slices Bacon
  • ½ whole Sweet Onion, Finely Chopped
  • ½ cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • ½ cups Gouda Cheese, Shredded
  • Salt And Pepper

Preparation

Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until slightly crispy. Remove to a paper towel to absorb some of the drippings. Once cool, chop into pieces. Sauté the onion in the remaining bacon drippings until tender, and then remove to a paper towel.

Drain the sauce pan of the bacon drippings, and then add the bacon, onion, cream, and butter to the pan. Let simmer on low heat for a few minutes, until the cream sauce begins to reduce and thicken. Stir in the cheese. Add the pasta to the skillet, and stir until all of the ingredients are incorporated and the pasta is coated with the sauce. Season with the salt and pepper. Serve warm.

Made this for the second time, and can say that bacon & gouda were made for each other. Such a delicious recipe!

will def make this weekend, one question, before adding back the bacon, onion and creme, do you wipe free the pan or leave some of the bacon fat in the pan?

This is very rich and delicious! I think it might benefit from some black pepper, though, to add a little more depth.

I do not like pasta but went out on a limb because I do like Johnny Carinos Bowtie Festival. This dish is AWESOME! I cut the amount of pasta down and used more cream & cheese to make it more saucy but we had it two weeks in a row it was so good! Definitely have this one bookmarked!

I agree with the 1 cup of cream and 1 cup of cheese. We had this tonight and will make again.

This was quite yummy. Even my picky daughters were willing to try it (HUGE step) and one of them devoured it. I can see adding some peas in the future, but it is delicious as is. I used a bit more cream and cheese based on the other reviews Definitely a dish I will make again.
