Description

I will argue that this is the best sandwich ever invented. It’s loaded with pork, ham, and cheese, with pickles and mustard pressed between slices of Cuban bread.

From Meseidy Rivera of The Noshery.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (6 In. Size) Cuban Bread
  • Mayonnaise, to taste
  • Mustard To Taste
  • 3 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 3 slices Ham
  • 1 cup Slow Cooker Pernil, Or More If Desired
  • Dill Pickles, To Taste
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter

Preparation

Preheat a cast iron or heavy bottom skillet over medium heat. Slice bread lengthwise. Spread both halves with mayonnaise and mustard. Layer the bottom half with Swiss cheese, ham, pork, and then pickles. Top the sandwich with the top half of the bread, pressing gently.

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet, swirl to coat. Place sandwich in the skillet. Use a second skillet to press the sandwich, about 5 minutes. Remove sandwich and add remaining tablespoon of butter, swirl to coat. Return sandwich to the skillet on the flipped side. Press sandwich using second skillet until crisp, another 5 minutes.

Slice sandwiches in half diagonally and serve immediately.

These were amazing!! I used the slow cooker pernil recipe from thenoshery.com. The best way to make pulled pork, in my opinion.
