Description

This is the noodle equivalent of nasi goreng, or Indonesian fried rice. Like fried rice, it can accommodate whatever leftovers you have in the cupboard. So use this recipe as a guide. Dutch like to serve it with extra ketjap manis and sambal on the side.

Ingredients

  • 8 Rounds Of Chinese Noodles (Mie)
  • 1 Tablespoon Sambal
  • 4 Tablespoons Sweet Soya Sauce
  • Left Over Meat And Or Shrimp, Cooked
  • 3 slices Bacon (cooked)
  • ½ bags Shredded Cabbage
  • 1 whole Leek
  • 1 teaspoon Koriander
  • ½ teaspoons Laos/galanga
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin

Preparation

Cook the mie according package directions.

Add the sambal, garlic and 2 tbsp soya sauce to the meat.

Heat the skillet or wok and add some olive oil or canola oil.

Add the meat to warm it up. Then add the cut up vegetables and stir fry for a couple of minutes.

Add the rest of the seasonings and the cooked mie.

You can eat this plain and or add a fried egg, sweet/sour pickle, atjar tjampoer ( which is similar to chow chow), and sate.

Mmm, I love Dutch Indonesian food! I am half Dutch.. always have Nasi or Bahmi Goreng for meals at my Dad’s. This recipe looks very close to the one we use. We always add in fried egg. Yummy yummy!
