Description

Pineapple is rich in Vitamin C, Bromelain, Manganese, and Thiamin (B1). Some people swear that pineapple aids in digestion, however no results have been published to provide that evidence.

This is a Luau Pizza using my “Homemade Wheat & Honey Crust”. Click on the Related Link to find my recipe for the crust (use 1/3 of the recipe) – or use your own or store bought. Don’t be afraid of the BBQ sauce- it’s really good.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Batch Of Pizza Dough For A 12x15" Pizza Crust
  • ⅓ cups Favorite BBQ Sauce
  • ⅓ cups Favorite Marinara Sauce
  • 1 clove Garlic. Pressed And Finely Minced
  • 6 slices Canadian Bacon, Sliced Into Thin Strips
  • ½ cups Pineapple Chunks, Sliced Thin
  • ½ cups Finely Sliced Red Onion
  • 4 ounces, weight Mozzarella Fresca Balls, Halved

Preparation

Preheat oven to 425 degrees (F). Roll out the pizza dough very thin, to 12″ x 14-16″. Lay on a baking sheet.

Mix barbecue sauce and marinara sauce. Ladle onto crust, spread thin, and sprinkle with minced garlic. Next, layer sliced Canadian bacon, pineapple chunks, red onion, and mozzarella ball halves.

Bake for approximately 18-20 minutes on middle rack, or until crust is crisp and cheese is melted. Slice into 12 slices.

Barbecue sauce and marinara does sound like a strange combination. Guess I’ll have to give it a try to see for myself!

The sauce was perfect, not too tomato saucy, and not too BBQ flavor, nicely in the middle. Everything about this recipe turned out nicely.
