I hate it when I eat a mushroom-topped burger and a ketchup soaked slice of mushroom falls onto my white shirt. This recipe is the perfect solution!
1. Place chopped mushrooms in a small skillet over medium heat. Cook until they release their moisture and are dry again, about 5 minutes. They should shrink quite a bit. Set aside to cool for about 5 minutes.
2. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. In a medium bowl, combine cooked mushrooms, ground beef and half of the seasoning. Be gentle when handling the meat.
3. Divide the mixture in two equal pieces and shape into a patty that is about 1/2 inch thick. Sprinkle one side of each patty with seasoning and place it seasoned side down on the preheated grill. Sprinkle the remaining seasoning on the unseasoned side. Cook for 2 minutes, flip, and cook for 3 minutes. If needed, cook for additional time until the burger is no longer pink inside and the meat is fully cooked. Remove the burgers from the grill.
4. Serve burgers on the bun with your favorite cheese, condiments and toppings. Enjoy your mostly-mess-free burger in your white shirt.
Recipe makes 2 burgers.
