This salad began in an open air market in the Sicilian town of Ortigia but can be recreated wherever there are pears and apples. It’s lovely served with grilled fish or chicken.
1. Core and thinly slice pears and apples.
2. Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
3. Saute pears and apples until tender and beginning to brown.
Note: Peel fruit if the skin is thick. This may seem too simple to be worth trying. Try it anyway; you won’t be sorry.
