Bacon Horseradish Deviled Eggs

Posted by in Step-by-Step Recipes

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Bacon Horseradish Deviled Eggs. Guest post by Georgia Pellegrini, recipe submitted by TK member Carrie of Kiss My Whisk.

I am kind of a sucker for deviled eggs. Eggs in general I love, but I especially like the possibilities for flavoring and filling the yolks. Deviled eggs are little bites of bliss and a great party food. These Bacon Horseradish Deviled Eggs from TK member Carrie were spectacular. The smokiness from the bacon combined with the sharpness from the horseradish was really otherworldly.

Looks Delicious! Earl Grey Ice Cream

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! Earl Grey Ice Cream, submitted by TK member Megan of Wanna Be A Country Cleaver.

The temperature around these parts has been slowly but surely climbing up, and the start of summer means the incessant afternoon sound of ice cream trucks driving down our street. And of course, I can’t help myself and just have to get something because, come on, it’s ice cream. So I wave the driver down in excitement that lasts only as long as it takes for me to read the price list.

Which is why this Early Grey Ice Cream from TK member Megan caught my eye. It’s so easily customizable, too! Use your favorite flavor of tea (chai, anyone?) or skip the tea altogether and make a batch of heavenly homemade vanilla ice cream.

Thanks for sharing this, Megan. Nothing beats the summer heat quite like ice cream, and this one looks like a keeper!

Check out more of Megan’s creations in her TK recipe box, and pay her blog Wanna Be A Country Cleaver a visit! She has even more recipes there, with gorgeous photography and hilarious stories.

Then go make some ice cream! (Sorry. I sometimes get a bit too excited about ice cream.)

Happy Monday, everyone!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! 4th of July Drink Ideas

Fresh Margarita, submitted by TK member Charlotte of The High Falutin' Duck. S'mores Martini, submitted by TK member Anita of Hungry Couple.

Happy Wednesday! Are you busy with your big holiday preparations? Got the grill ready, have a spare propane tank or bag of charcoal? Pie dough chilling in the fridge? Know where to get ice tomorrow for the cooler?

Most folks usually have their entire menu already set by now. But if you have room on your list for one or two new drink recipes to try, I thought I’d tempt you with these.

First up, a favorite in my house ever since I first saw it here on Tasty Kitchen and started making it: a Fresh Margarita from TK member Charlotte of The High Falutin’ Duck. Let me confess something: I’m a wimp when it comes to drinks. Embarrassingly wimpy. But this? Oh my goodness. Everyone I’ve served this to has said it’s the best margarita they’ve ever had. It’s quite potent, so resist the urge to gulp it down. If there is a margarita lover in your life, make this and blow them away.

If you prefer something creamy and sinful-tasting in a chocolaty way, try this great twist on a campfire favorite: S’mores Martini from Anita of Hungry Couple. Chocolate, creme de cacao, cream, roasted marshmallows, graham crackers … it’ll take you back to your childhood while making you feel very, very grateful you’re an adult and above the legal drinking age.

Whatever you’re planning for libations, here’s hoping you have a fun—and safe!—holiday!

An adult treat with all the flavor of the classic campfire dessert!

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Graham Cracker
  • 1 ounce, weight Chocolate, Melted
  • 2 ounces, fluid Marshmallow Vodka
  • 1 ounce, fluid Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1 ounce, fluid Creme De Cacao
  • 2 ounces, fluid Cream Or Half-and-Half
  • 3 whole Marshmallows

Preparation Instructions

Crush the graham cracker into a shallow bowl using your hands. It’s okay if there are some chunkier pieces. Place the chocolate into a second shallow bowl and microwave for a few seconds until melted. Dip the rim of a martini glass into the chocolate and then into the graham cracker pieces. Refrigerate for a few minutes to set.

Add the marshmallow vodka, chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao and cream to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, shake well and pour into the prepared glass. Spear the marshmallows on the end of a skewer or long fork and hold over an open flame for a couple of seconds until the ends get toasted. Thread them onto a cocktail pick and garnish the drink.

Looks Delicious! Cilantro Sauces

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

Tasty Kitchen Blog: Looks Delicious! Cilantro Pesto and Cilantro Yogurt Sauce, submitted by TK member Jessie of Life as a Strawberry.

I love sauces. They’re a quick and easy way to make simple grilled meats and vegetables extra special, and for me, a good sauce can take any wrap or sandwich to moreish levels.

I’ve had my eye on this pair of cilantro sauces from TK member Jessie ever since she submitted them: Cilantro Pesto and Cilantro Yogurt Sauce. I happen to love cilantro, but if you prefer, I’m pretty sure you could substitute parsley or even dill, or whatever your favorite herb might be. Maybe even mint for some lamb kebabs!

Sauces are a great way to get out of a grilling rut and they take almost no time to whip up. If you’re looking for something new to try, I vote for these!

Thanks Jessie for sharing the recipe! Jessie blogs at Life as a Strawberry. Go check it out!

Looks Delicious! Summer Weekend Burgers

Posted by in Looks Delicious!

It’s Friday! Even better, that indescribably horrid heatwave has finally broken ’round these parts, which means it’s safe to venture outdoors again. We’ve been wanting to fire up the grill for days now but it’s just been too hot and humid that I swear the meat arrives almost half-cooked after walking all 15 steps […]

Looks Delicious! Barbecue Sauces

These recipes caught my eye because I love barbecued anything and I’m still dreaming of some amazing pulled pork I enjoyed last weekend. Plus I love chipotle, so Jackie’s spicy and tangy Chipotle Lime BBQ Sauce is right up my alley. I’ve also got some peaches to use up, and they add a nice […]

Looks Delicious! Limoncello and Ricotta Cake

Posted by in Baking, Looks Delicious!

Well. I remember just about falling off my chair when I first saw this Limoncello and Ricotta Cake from TK member Melanie. It’s like tiramisu except, instead of espresso, you use summery Limoncello. I’ve seen a few versions of Limoncello tiramisu floating around online, but this one uses ricotta instead of mascarpone. I don’t […]
