Tasty Kitchen Blog: Back to School Granola Bites and a Lunch Box Giveaway!

School is starting! How is that possible? It’s sad to say good-bye to summer, but most of us actually welcome the return to school and a little more routine in our lives. We also start off the year with good intentions for lunch packing organization. We want to keep it interesting but also pack food the kids will actually eat! We love these No-Bake Healthy Granola Bites from TK Member Mel. They’re the perfect addition to a tasty lunch or a great after-school snack. And a little bit of chocolate never hurts!

PB&J!!!! They could eat it every day…lol!

Kristi on 8.15.2014

Susan K on 8.15.2014

Anything easy and halfway healthy. Crackers with cheese and cuties.

Ham and Cheese on Rye bread! (that and cookies :P )

Jeanne (NanaBread) on 8.15.2014

Any type of fruit – the grandkids can’t get enough.

Kim McCarthy on 8.15.2014

I am writing about my grandkids. Not much time for them to eat lunch at school and a big sandwich makes them think they can’t eat it all. So they take, cucumber slices, strawberries, string cheese and rolled up ham slices, along with some dip.

Bonnie on 8.15.2014

Pickles wrapped w/cream cheese and ham!

Adrienne on 8.15.2014

…as strange as it sounds – cold baked bean sandwich on white bread with a little mayo and a slice of white american cheese. It’s not an ‘every day’ food, but apparently a favorite!

Sarah C. - Ohio on 8.15.2014

My kids love to get chicken wraps in their lunchboxes and of course anything with chocolate is a hit.

BettyC on 8.15.2014

Snap peas with Ranch dressing for dipping.

Karen D. on 8.15.2014

My kids are now homeschooled, so they no longer take lunches with them to school. When they did, my son’s favorite thing to take to school were California rolls – weird kid. I make (cooked) sushi at home and would make extra for dinner the night before, and he would take some in his lunch the next morning. This was his favorite lunch.

Jean Franklin on 8.15.2014

Fruit kabobs and meat /cheese kabobs. My kids will eat anything on a stick.

Megan H on 8.15.2014

My child is a snacker! cheese and crackers with fruit!

Ellie on 8.15.2014

Ham or turkey stuffed in a pita with cheese, lettuce, and ranch mayo kept cold (not good if allowed to get warm). No chips, maybe a baby dill pickle.

Randi T. on 8.15.2014

My daughter loves PB&J sandwiches and orange slices!

Leftovers, or salads!

Karen on 8.15.2014

PBJ!

Marilyn Healy on 8.15.2014

Peatnut butter and jelly that I cut into different shapes. One kid just eats the lunchmeat so I don’t even make it on bread. He just eats the lunchmeat alone. I switch it up though.

Jo Shontz on 8.15.2014

My son’s favorite thing for lunch is a ham and cheese sandwich with spicy mustard.

Sandi W. on 8.15.2014

Stephanie S. on 8.15.2014

My 2 little kids (4 & 6) love when I make “cinnamon roll roll-ups”! I cut off the crust of bread, spread cream cheese, drizzle honey & sprinkle cinnamon then roll up jelly roll style, cutting them into little spiral disks perfect for little fingers!

Momma Mac on 8.15.2014

For my teen, anything except a sandwich.

When I was a kid I had a peanut butter and honey sandwich with nacho cheese Doritos smashed on top every day from K-5 grade. I have to pack paleo lunch these days for health, but I sure miss that sandwich!
