Description

A simple, yet zesty pizza sauce perfect for those homemade pizza nights! Be sure to put this sauce on PW’s pizza dough crust. This makes for a delicious pizza. We like to top ours with either crumbled sausage and cheese or pepperoni and cheese! ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Onion, Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • ¼ cups White Wine
  • 4 Tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 4 teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • 2 teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • 2 cans (28 Oz. Each) Crushed Tomatoes, Undrained
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Balsamic Vinegar (optional)

Preparation

Saute onions in a small amount of oil until softened. Add garlic and stir in wine. Add tomato paste, oregano, red pepper, pepper, cans of tomatoes, and sugar. Simmer for 20 minutes (I like to throw in a bay leaf sometimes!) until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vinegar (if using). Allow sauce to cool. This makes enough for 3 to 4 large pizzas.

Either put it on PW’s pizza dough or portion this sauce out into about 3-4 small freezer baggies and stick it in the freezer to have on hand for a homemade pizza night! ENJOY!

I LOVE THIS SAUCE. I freeze the leftovers in ice cube trays and ALWAYS have some handy for homemade pizza!

This recepie inspired my own interpretation of Pizza sauce today. Thank you for that .

Now for the review part: Simple and zesty pizza sauce, just like it says in the description. Ohh and it is quick too.

All in all a great base recepie and an invitation to play with it. Just as it should be.
