Description

Finger licking good! Easy recipe! Family favourite!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Baby Back Pork Ribs
  • Salt, Pepper And Garlic Powder, To Taste
  • 2 cups White Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Vinegar
  • 4 Tablespoons Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons Flour
  • ½ cups Water

Preparation

This recipe was taken from a cookbook that I found years ago while I was nursing. Our family has enjoyed them many, many times, and I have tweaked over the course of time. You can ask the butcher to cut the ribs in half lengthwise for you so you have riblets.

Preheat your oven’s broiler.

Cut the ribs into managable chunks and season well with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Pull out a roaster pan or set a cookie cooling rack on top of a rimmed cookie sheet. Put the ribs on the pan or rack. Broil the ribs under the broiler about 5 minutes per side. Note that they don’t have to be cooked through at this point.

In a large pot over medium heat mix together the sugar, vinegar and soy sauce. Whisk together the flour and water in a small bowl and add it to the pot with the other ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil. Simmer until it starts to thicken.

Once you have finished broiling all the ribs, cut them into individual pieces. Then put them into the pot with the sauce, make sure that they are all nicely coated and covered, then simmer in the sauce for 45-60 minutes. You want to cook them until the meat is starting to pull away from the bone.

Serve over basmati rice with your favourite vegetable.
