Description

Scrumptious wine-flavored mushrooms spooned over a delicious steak. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Steaks (sirloin, Ribeye, Etc.)
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 1 pound White Mushrooms, Sliced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 3 whole Green Onions, Sliced
  • 1-½ cup Red Wine: Burgundy, Merlot, Cab, Etc.
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • Fresh Parsley, Minced, To Taste

Preparation

In a large skillet, melt butter over high heat. Throw in mushrooms, garlic, and green onions and cook, stirring occasionally until mushrooms are nice and golden. Pour in wine and stir, scraping bottoms of the pan. Allow to cook for several minutes or until liquid is reduced by at least half. At the end, add 1 tablespoon butter and stir into sauce. Add parsley and stir together. Don’t be afraid to splash in a little more wine if needed.

Fry a steak in a separate skillet till medium rare.

Spoon mushrooms sauce over the top.

Just made this tonight for diner on the fly- it came together incredibly fast! Thanks for such a great recipe.

I wanted a bit more fat- so I mashed a spoonful of cream cheese with some herbs, and a bit of butter. I let that melt over the top of the steak, and then spooned the mushroom sauce over the whole thing. It was divine. The cream cheese helped tone the wine down a bit. Once again, thanks for such a great recipe!

I made this with chicken (don’t like red meat) and it was so good!

This sauce was great and super easy to make. It smelled heavenly cooking!

I too was also worried it might taste too ‘boozey’ because my hubby doesn’t care for sauces when they taste too much like wine; so I threw in some small chunks of Gorgonzola cheese and it was too die for :)

Will be using this recipe again….many, many times I am sure!

I thought this smelled a little boozey… but once it got to my mouth I couldn’t get over how amazing it was. Way better than just plain sauteed mushrooms and onions they serve in the steak houses ( I know, I worked in one for 3 years) and it’s good becaus eyou can keep going back when you want more, which will be often.

This could also be called “soup” because it’s good all on it’s own. Not that I would know…

This recipe was amazing!! We didn’t have any red wine on hand and I really wanted to make a meal that I had all the ingredients to, so I substituted a bit of red wine vinegar and cranberry juice. I think that the wine definitely would have been better, added some boldness and richness, but it was still very yummy!

We like mushrooms in our family, so next time I make this I would make either one and a half or two times the amount of mushrooms. I wanted to just eat them straight out of the bowl!
