Description

Savory Sloppy Joe meat on a fluffy homemade crust. Sloppy Joe’s just got a whole new look!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE SLOPPY JOES:
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • ½ cups Chopped Onion
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • ⅛ teaspoons Tabasco Sauce
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 12 ounces, fluid Chili Sauce, Divided Use
  • FOR THE PIZZA DOUGH:
  • 1-¾ cup Whole Wheat Flour (more If Needed)
  • 1 package (1/4 Oz Packet) Fleischmann's Pizza Crust Yeast
  • 1-½ teaspoon Sugar
  • ¾ teaspoons Salt
  • ⅔ cups Very Warm Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • FOR THE PIZZA:
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 cups Fresh Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 cup Shredded Colby-jack Cheese

Preparation

For the meat:
Cook beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until meat is browned and onions are softened. Drain off the grease. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt and 3/4 of the jar of chili sauce. Set aside.

For the dough:
Preheat oven to 425 F and put your pizza stone in the oven to heat up as the oven heats.

Combine 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt in the bowl of your stand mixer. Stir using the dough hook, then add water and oil and continue mixing until well blended, about 1 minute.

Add additional flour in 1/2 cup increments until dough is soft, but slightly sticky. Continue kneading it with the dough hook for about 4 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Dump dough onto a floured work surface and roll into a pizza shape, adding more flour if necessary.

Place dough on the hot pizza stone and bake at 425 F for 6 minutes. Remove crust from oven. Drizzle crust with remaining chili sauce and spread it to 1/2 inch from the edge. Spread meat over the top of the chili sauce, then layer cheddar, mozzarella and colby jack cheese over that.

Slide pizza back into the oven for 6 more minutes to melt cheese.
