Description

Hearty and warming shrimp etouffee served with rice and crusty bread.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups Butter
  • 6 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 cup Diced Celery
  • ½ cups Chopped Red Pepper
  • ½ cups Chopped Yellow Pepper
  • 6  Green Onions, Thinly Sliced
  • 3 cups Water
  • 3 Tablespoons Cajun Seasonings
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • 2 pounds Peeled, Deveined And Chopped Shrimp
  • Cooked Rice, For Serving

Preparation

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat then stir in flour. Stir constantly until it becomes a rich dark brown. Add vegetables and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in water and seasonings. Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until it starts to thicken. Add shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes. Serve over rice.

This was alright. It was fast and easy. I just felt like it was missing something, and I couldn’t put my finger on what it needed.

This was easy and so delicious! I upped the spicy with 1/2 a teaspoon of cayenne, and substituted part of the shrimp with scallops.
