Description

This savory breakfast casserole is meaty, full of flavor and best of all, it’s incredibly easy to make. It is so amazing and perfect for Sunday brunch!

Ingredients

  • 3 slices Whole Grain Sandwich Bread
  • 1 teaspoon Canola Oil, For Browning
  • ½ pounds Loose Pork Breakfast Sausage
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 dash Worcestershire Sauce
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ teaspoons Dried Parsley
  • ¾ cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Preparation

1. Lightly spray an 8 x 8 baking pan with cooking spray. Lay out the bread in a single layer on the bottom of the pan.
2. Heat the canola oil in a pan over medium high heat. Add the sausage, salt and Worcestershire sauce, and completely break up and brown the sausage. Take it off the heat and let it cool so that it doesn’t cook the eggs when you combine them in the next step.
3. While the sausage cools, combine the eggs, milk, and parsley in a medium-sized bowl and whisk them together.
4. Evenly distribute the sausage over the layer of bread in the baking pan. Then evenly distribute the cheddar cheese over the sausage.
5. Pour the egg mixture into the pan to surround everything. Cover the pan with a sheet of plastic wrap or foil and let the casserole sit overnight in the refrigerator. The bread will absorb some of the egg mixture and all of the flavors will meld.
6. In the morning, preheat the oven to 350 F. Uncover the casserole and bake it for about 35-40 minutes, until the top is completely bubbly and the eggs have set. Remove from oven.
7. Let it cool for a couple of minutes, then you are ready to serve! One quarter of the pan is a nice, generous portion.
