Description

This is my famous baked ham. Is has a sweet pineapple brown sugar glaze and is moist and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds To 4 Pounds Picnic Ham (spiral Cut Works Fine Too)
  • ½ cups (to 3/4 Cup) Brown Sugar
  • 20 ounces, weight Canned Crushed Pineapple With Juice
  • 12 ounces, fluid Can Of 7-up
  • 3 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 4 Tablespoons Cold Water

Preparation

Set ham on counter 30-60 minutes before cooking to come to room temperature and ensure even cooking.

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Place the ham in a large Dutch oven or roasting pan. Pour the brown sugar, pineapple with juice and 7-Up over the top of the ham and stir the sauce to combine.

Spoon some of the combined mixture over the top of the ham and cover with foil or a lid and bake for 30 minutes. Spoon more sauce over the top and bake, covered, for an additional 30 minutes.

When the ham is done, remove it from the oven and place it on a cutting board and tent with foil for at least 15 minutes.

Pour the remaining sauce into a saucepan. Set aside.

In a small bowl combine cornstarch with 4 tablespoons of cold water and stir until completely dissolved. Pour into the sauce in the pan. Cook the sauce over high heat bringing to a boil, then continue cooking for a couple of minutes until thickened.

Carve ham and serve with pineapple sauce on the side.

Serves 6-8.

Enjoy!
