Description

A fantastic combination of turkey, crunchy vegetables, salty goodness. Worthy of my last meal!

Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Canola Oil - Not Olive Oli
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Ginger, Minced
  • 2 whole Carrots, Diced
  • 2 stalks Celery, Diced
  • 2 whole Shallots, Minced
  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 can Water Chestnuts, Diced
  • 1 bunch Green Onions, diced
  • 2 Tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Oyster Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Fish Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 head Crunchy Lettuce Or Cabbage

Preparation

In a large pan or wok heat oil over medium high heat. Add ginger and garlic. Be careful not to burn, as it will ruin your dish. Stir-fry until fragrant. Add the carrots, celery and shallots. Cook for about 5-8 minutes or until tender. Meanwhile, mix all of the sauces together in a bowl including the sugar. Stir well.

Add the turkey. Stir completely to incorporate all the vegetables. Add the water chestnuts and green onions.

Mix together sauces and sugar and then pour into your turkey/vegetable mixture. Continue stirring so all the flavors combine. Cook until the turkey is cooked through.

Serve in lettuce/cabbage cups.

Just an update. I make this at least twice a month and have shared the recipe with so many friends. I am taking it to the beach with us! Thanks for such a great recipe!

Delicious! Made this for dinner last night. My husband and his picky friend gobbled it up. I must say they were the best lettuce wraps I’ve ever made. I added some finely diced apple at the end for some crunchy sweetness. Will make again!

Yum, yum, YUM!! Made these last week for my husband & his brother; they were such a big hit I am making them again for a small get-together with friends this weekend. The great thing is that once you have all the sauces, you’re good to re-make this several times at a low cost. I add extra water chestnuts and celery to make it go a little farther. We’re thinking of giving it a go with cashews as well. So easy and fast– and if you can get extra hands to help with the prep, it’s even faster!

My family really enjoyed these wraps. In fact, they enjoyed them so much that I am making them for a second time in a month. It is quick and easy to put together after work, and it is a great way to sneak in some vegetables for the kids.

I did cut back on the sriracha because the kids don’t like spicy foods, but otherwise didn’t change a thing with this recipe.

Oh my gosh – you actually know what Sriracha is! My dh loves it. I read about it in Saveur a long time ago and he had heard about it from a friend (didn’t know I knew about it lol). It’s a regular inhabitant of our refrigerator. I am saving this recipe to try. Thanks!

My husband loves to get lettuce wraps when we go out for Thai so it’s nice to have them at home too. Excellent flavour and crunch!

A hit with the whole family (amazing in and of itself). Great balance of flavors – we also added some chopped cilantro and replace the celery and water chestnuts (not a fan personally) with a bit of packaged shredded coleslaw cabbage mix and some chopped baby bellas. DELISH! Got veggies and meat in my toddler. Quite a feat. Hats off to you!

We didn’t care for these so much, I think next time I will leave the fish sauce out and see if we like it better.

This is as good or better than the lettuce wraps you get at a Chinese restaurant. The sauce is so yummy…I licked my plate when I was finished!

Yum, yum! This is a winner. I am making this recipe again tonight. A hit with both me and my guy. I buy the romaine hearts for serving and it helps hold everything in.
