Description

My favorite lasagna ever. It isn’t the typical lasagna recipe as it doesn’t have ricotta or cottage cheese. It is fairly simple but the taste is amazing.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, weight Lasagna Noodles
  • 2 Tablespoons Cooking Oil
  • ¼ cups Minced Onions
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 8 ounces, weight Can Tomato Sauce
  • 14-½ ounces, weight Can Whole Tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Oregano
  • 1-½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Black Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • ¼ teaspoons Paprika
  • ½ pounds Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • ¼ pounds Mozzarella Cheese, Grated
  • ¼ cups Parmesan Cheese (kraft)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large pot, prepare lasagna noodles according to direction on the package.

While the noodles are cooking, in a large skillet heat oil on medium high heat and saute onion. Once they are translucent add the ground beef, crumbling and cooking until no pink remains. Once this is complete add the tomato sauce, whole tomatoes (breaking them into pieces as you go), and all of the seasonings. Let simmer for about 15 minutes.

Once pasta is complete drain off water and rinse the noodles with cold water.

In a 9×13 baking dish, layer the bottom with a thin layer of sauce, then add a layer of 3 pasta noodles, more sauce, the 3 different cheese, repeat pasta, sauce, cheese until all layers are complete. Cover and put into the oven and cook for 30 minutes. After finished, take out of the oven, let set for 1o minutes and serve.
