Description

This Margherita Pizza is simple, yet elegant enough as an appetizer at a shower or cocktail party.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Prepared Pizza Dough (refrigerated Or Homemade)
  • 1 teaspoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Plus More To Brush On The Crust
  • 1 clove Garlic, Halved
  • 4 whole Plum Tomatoes, Thinly Sliced
  • 1 whole (8 Oz. Size) Ball Of Fresh Mozzarella, Sliced
  • 2 teaspoons Balsamic Vinegar
  • ½ cups Thinly Sliced Fresh Basil
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Fresh Ground Pepper

Preparation

Preheat oven to 450°F. Spray a cooking sheet with cooking spray (I use Pam).

Place dough on the baking sheet and press into a 13 x 11-inch rectangle (you can use a circular pizza pan as well). Bake at 400° for 7-8 minutes.

Remove crust from the oven and brush with a little olive oil. Rub the crust with the cut sides of garlic.

Arrange tomato and cheese slices (or shredded cheese) on the crust, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Bake at 450° for 12-15 minutes or until cheese melts and crust is golden.

Whisk together 1 teaspoon oil and the balsamic vinegar in a small bowl.

Sprinkle pizza evenly with sliced basil, salt, and pepper. Drizzle the vinegar mixture evenly over the pizza.

Cut pizza into square pieces. Enjoy!

Oh this was so good! I sprinkled some Italian seasoning on the crust along with the garlic, but honestly, I don’t think that was necessary. Definitely do the vinegar and oil drizzle at the end, it really makes it stand out! Can’t wait to do this one again!
