Description

This is an easy and delicious baked pasta recipe. It is hearty, even with no meat, and will satisfy any crowd!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces, weight Ziti Pasta
  • 1 cup Part-skim Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 whole Egg, Lightly Beaten
  • ¾ cups Finely Grated Parmesan Cheese, Divided Use
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, Divided
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 26 ounces, fluid Jar Of Your Favorite Pasta Sauce (tomato)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 450°F.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, according to package instructions; drain and set aside.

In a small bowl, combine ricotta, egg, 1/4 cup Parmesan, and half the mozzarella; season with salt and pepper.

In the bottom of a shallow 2-quart casserole dish, spread half of the tomato sauce. Top with the cooked pasta, then the ricotta mixture and then the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan and remaining mozzarella. Place casserole on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake until top is browned and sauce is bubbling, 20 to 25 minutes.

Delicious and easy! I used 4 cups of Bolognese sauce instead of 26 oz of jar pasta sauce and only used 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese instead of 3/4 cup. Thank you so much for the recipe. Tastes like lasagna without all of the work.

I used my own marinara sauce, but other wise didn’t change a thing. Absolutely delicious. Made 4 pans for a Christening party and was a huge hit. Thank you so much!

Easy recipe and very good. I doubled it to make enough for 4 adults, and we definitely have leftovers. The only change I made was to add a teaspoon of minced garlic to the ricotta mixture before layering. Everyone really enjoyed it.

Super easy and very good! I really like this recipe because it doesn’t make a boat load of pasta but I’m sure you could double the recipe to do so. Feed 2 really hungry people and enough leftovers for a couple of lunches.

Delicious. Thanks so much for this recipe, I have made it twice: once with my own spinach sausage tomato sauce from the freezer, and once with a can of Trader Joe’s marinara! Wonderful both times, and so easy. I did use full fat ricotta, mmmmmm. Thanks again for a great recipe already in rotation at our house!
